program: recessed outdoor fire-pit

The Fire-Pit was designed as an unobstructed gathering space for small groups of friends. Part of a larger work-in-progress plan for the client’s backyard, this intimate sitting space uses materials and details that reference other spaces in the backyard. The recessed nature of this piece alludes to a conversation pit - a built-in design element that reduces the clutter of furniture and beacons cozy gatherings around a hearth.
